Wow Wow Wee Wow! Is a new year! Is time for resolutions! Over past year I notice renewed devotional mood in Prabhupada community. Especially at Sampradaya Sun website and Dandavats website I seen manys devotional outpouring in worship of beloved gurudeva eternal master and lord of all souls, Srila Prabhupada. Just yesterday I see one article post on Sampradaya Sun in so much worship of Prabhupada. In video he is walking just a few feet on terrace or roof of some kind, in India. To mundane vision, the few feet our eternal lord and master of all is walking looking like nothing out of ordinary, or even a little bit sickly, yes?

But to pure hearted devotee at Sampradaya Sun website, is nothing less than most divine rapture vision of swans grace and beauty:

Srila Prabhupada looks fresh and radiant, like a full blown lotus flower, after having taken his midday bath. Since crossing the threshold, Srila Prabhupada begins to perform a series of motions and gestures befitting a regal white swan: the manner in which he lordly cleanses his nose using the thumb and index fingers of his right hand; the indication he makes immediately afterwards with the same hand (palm upward) to the brahmacari standing next to the door; the swift movement downward he makes with both his right hand and arm to mandate his audience to seat down, and lastly, the carefree way he scratches the right side of his lotus face with his left hand, and again wipes his nose with the tips of the abovementioned fingers.

While walking towards the asana, Srila Prabhupada is serenely and gracefully interacting with all devotees and guests around him. Just after sitting cross-legged (in a semi-lotus position), Srila Prabhupada gives to the whole world the gift (since we are all watching it right now) of a most pleasing, beautiful smile — an “oceanic” smile, as Sally Agarwal put it. While smiling, Srila Prabhupada delightfully moves his head sideways, like a Vrindavan khanjarita bird.

Three rounds of tulasi beads tighten Srila Prabhupada’s neck (although it appears that a separate fourth round of tulasi is there, right over the main set), and a thick upavita, sacred tread, transversely falls from his left shoulder. A beautiful necklace made of intercalated tulasi beads and minute gold balls adorns my Spiritual Master’s chest. His Divine Grace dutifully and proudly bears the tridandi-sannyasa attire and all the Vaisnava external symbols.

Srila Prabhupada’s lips are plump. His mouth is a major element on his face. Thorough his lotus mouth, paramahamsa Srila Prabhupada bountifully inundated the whole world, n the present Kali-yuga, with the purest presentation of Krishna consciousness, strictly obeying the order of his gurudeva; accepting the words of his Spiritual Master as his life and soul (vyavasayatmika buddhir ekeha kuru-nandana).

Several of Srila Prabhupada’s teeth have full gold crowns: a millenary fashion not only in India but in all the major civilizations of the planet. In conformity with Vedic jyotish, wearing golden pieces on the body ensures good health. It is also a beautiful decoration.

Wow Wow Wee Wow! So much devotion for jagat-gurudeva lord of all the souls Prabhupada! I see so much like this all year on Sampradaya Sun website, I also want to make love to Prabhupada for you. I make new year resolution to make more love to Prabhupada! I think hard and long, with open soul, and poem comes out for making love to Prabhupada. Here is my poem I hope to make devotional love for Prabhupada, but my English not so much very good, please forgive:

One who carefully recites this sacred Prabhupadastakam, upon becoming sinless and pure-hearted, will attain entrance into Prabhupadaloka.

It was 1933, during the height of the Great Depression, in a one dog town in northern Mississippi just south of Memphis, goes by the name of Clarksville. It was a hot and dry day, as days tended to be in the deep south during the Great Depression, seeing as they was hurtin so bad they couldn’t even afford to keep their traditionally humid climate from being repo’d up and out of there, sold off to carpetbaggers from the north for a song.

It was bad times for all, but especially for the po sharecropper black folk. Negroes, or coloureds, they called them back then, that is when they was being polite and all. Dickwood “Fatback” Johnson had mouths to feed and a failing crop. While he was “a no account shifty middling musician,” as his wife liked to call him when describing to her friends about how they met, he was a desperate man in desperate times, and in playing his harmonica he felt a sense of letting steam off. It let him vent his frustrations in the music of the Delta negro, blues they called it, (the Delta Blues it would later be famously known) because it was about releasing their blues, their blue mood, through music. Which was a healthier way than a more destructive course of events, of which there were a many.

As Dickwood’s crop had failed because of the intense dry heat and drought conditions, he set upon the idea to head down to Yazoo where he heard there was work “for bucks who ain’t afraid for a hard days work” in rebuilding the shipyards—after the Great Mississippi Flood of ’27 had wreaked it’s unholy vexification on the good folks of Mississippi. As he set out on foot towards the center of town, towards the crossroads where he could hitch a ride down south, he took one last look at his young bride and mother of his 9 childrens. A strange feeling came over him as if his previous life with his family had all been a dream, that it was as ephemeral as a mirage in the heat of the Clarksville sun.

When he got to the crossroads he put his trunk down and stuck out his thumb; he had left early, hoping to get a ride before the heat of the day swallowed him up whole. It wasn’t to be. He stayed in that spot for pert near 12 hours before deciding to give up and go back home with hat in hand, dejected, a failure at even getting a ride. But that also was not to be, not on that hot and dusty summer evening at the crossroads in central Clarksville, Mississippi 1933. What Dickwood “Fatback” Johnson didn’t know, was that he was being watched (just like all of us, folks).

As Dickwood picked up his trunk and started to set off, a horn sounded, so loud you’d have thought the walls of Jericho itself would have been transmogrified into dust. Startled, Dickwood turned around just in time to see a sleek looking large shiny white automobile screech up and park right in back of where he was a standin with his eyes and mouth agape. He tried to squint through the light of the headlights to see who was driving, but all he could see was a dark outline, being that the lights were so bright and blinding.

As he started to turn quickly to go home—as he had felt a strange premonition that the person in the car was bad business, he heard his name called out, almost a whispering sound, like the rustlin of dead branches on a grey winters morn. “You talking to me sir?” Dickwood said to the figure in the car he still couldn’t see, even with shading his eyes with his hand. “You go by the name a Dickwood Johnson son?” whispered the voice in Dickwoods ears. “Why yessir, though mose folks be calling me Fatback, count I liked to play with pigshit when I was a youngin. Always comin in to dinner covered in pigshit, momma used to say, don’t remember much though on account I was a youngin” Dickwood nervously stammered out.

“Well Fatback, I heard you was lookin for some honest pay for some honest work?” said the whispering phantom. Surprised, on account of telling no one but his wife late last night about his plan to go down Yazoo way, Dickwood was still too desperate for work to give it much thought on how this stranger could know his intimate personal business. “Why yessir, yes I am, got me a strong back and a strong hand, ain’t afraid of a hard days work, no sir, ain’t afraid t’all” Dickwood nervously rambled, hoping he wouldn’t have to make the long trip down south to an uncertain future, leaving the comfort of his young bride and 9 kids.

“Ain’t no worry ’bout that son, I don’t require any hard laboring. I need someone I can trust to go on errands for me, delivery job so to speak” said the figure in the car. Perplexed, Dickwood didn’t know what to say seein as he didn’t know how to drive and didn’t own an automobile, being po and all. But he was desperate for money, “You can trust me sir, ask around, I never cheated no one and t’ain’t ever been caught stealing or nothing like that sir” stammered Dickwood. “T’aint never been caught?” said the whisper with a laugh. “Oh no suh, that wasn’t my meaning , t’aint never been caught cuz I never done um” Dickwood now frantically pleaded. “You know how to write Fatback?” said the whispering voice. “I can sign my name, but nothin else sir, sorry, I can learn if need be” Dickwood nervously said. “That’s all I need son” said the specter in the dark behind the light, “come close Fatback” he said.

Later that evening when Dickwood got home, he knew his life had changed forever. He hoped he had made the right choice, he hoped his soul was worth losing for the comfort it would bring him and his family. The man in the car hadn’t given him a job just yet, he said in the future he would call on him to deliver a message, but he would be given a gift to enable him to make himself a very rich man right now. He showed that gift to his wife that night, he asked her to name anybody she knew. “Why Dickwood?” she said. “Baby I want to show you how we is gonna get rich” he said. “OK than, how about that Mahatma guy from India?” she laughed, not knowing what he was going on about. In an instant Dickwood’s form began to shimmer like a mirage in the mid day Clarksville sun, and in the next instant Dickwood was gone—in his place was the savior of India, Mohandas “Mahatma” Gandhi, wearing nothing but sandals, a loin cloth, and spectacles.

And rich they did become. Dickwood could take the form of any human he desired for as long as he wanted. He had been given the power of the man who hired him, as he was now his official representative. Being a shape-shifter was not just part of the job requirement he was informed of, on that long ago warm summer’s eve at the crossroads in Clarksville, Mississippi—it was also his reward. He could impersonate anyone, and by that be able to access whatever he desired—be it money, gold, jewels, anything anyone owned—all was his for the taking.

As life dragged on over the years, eventually his wife grew old and passed to the other side, his children grew up and had kids of their own, but the man from the car never came for Dickwood for so long that Dickwood thought maybe he had forgotten about their deal. And so it came to pass that in the early 1970s when the man did finally show up, Dickwood thought maybe he had wanted to wait for his wife to pass on so he could devote himself to his work without distraction. But it became evident that it wasn’t the reason when he found himself in the form of a young man, a white man, a Jewish one at that, in a religious cult on a commune up in cold as hell West Virginia. New Vrindavan they called it, seemed like weirdos to Dickwood, but his boss had informed him his job was to take over the cult, by any means necessary, for he had plans for the world, and Dickwood “Fatback” Johnson—was his messenger.

A chatter robot, chatterbot, chatbot, or chat bot is a computer program designed to simulate an intelligent conversation with one or more human users via auditory or textual methods, primarily for engaging in small talk. The primary aim of such simulation has been to fool the user into thinking that the program’s output has been produced by a human (the Turing test). Programs playing this role are sometimes referred to as Artificial Conversational Entities, talk bots or chatterboxes. In addition, however, chatterbots are often integrated into dialog systems for various practical purposes such as online help, personalised service, or information acquisition. Some chatterbots use sophisticated natural language processing systems, but many simply scan for keywords within the input and pull a reply with the most matching keywords, or the most similar wording pattern, from a textual database.

अन्तर्यामिन् antaryAmin

1. regulating the soul or internal feelings, soul; Providence, Supreme Spirit as guiding and regulating mankind. Brahman; (according to the Bṛi. Ār. Up. अन्तर्यामिन ‘the internal check’ is the Supreme Being and not the individual soul

At a recent high level meeting of the ISKCON GBC [Governing Board Commission] and temple presidents, they sat and met with the leaders of the SSPT [Spiritual Strategic Planning Team] to discuss plans for the future of ISKCON.

As many of our readers are aware, outside of India and Indian communities, most of ISKCON membership and congregation has been in decline for many years. There are some places [ex-communist bloc countries] where ISKCON has not declined and is doing well, but the trend for most of the world has been a continual decline. It’s gotten so bad that many once thriving communities are now more or less nothing more than social clubs for the local Indian communities.

In order to counteract the continual decline of ISKCON amongst the non-Hindu populations, ISKCON leaders empowered the SSPT to devise “synergistic” solutions to the membership and participatory problems ISKCON continues to experience.

After a number of years of research and study by going to conferences around the world and searching for answers, SSPT members had all but given up. Disheartened at their abject failure to come up with synergistic solutions through management techniques, leading member of the SSPT, Goball Bhuttass, a businessman and long time ISKCON acquaintance, had a road to Damascus moment:

We need to embrace who we are and stop trying to be “cool” and “hip” in trying to impress the Indian community that we’re pure holy sages and mystic brahmanas so they continue to pay to use our temples and priest services; and we also need to stop trying to convince the media we’re like everyone else in order to attract people, when obviously we’re not. So people don’t end up feeling deceived when they find out what we’re really all about, we need to be honest. We should reach out to our true comrades in arms, our true soul brothers and soul sisters, and let them know who we are and that we share a deep bond and kinship with them — not only in our similar lifestyles, but also in that we’re both ridiculed and ostracised by the wider public simply for being passionate about who we are.

LARP LARPERS LARPING

Goball Bhuttass presented the ISKCON leadership with a brilliant synergistic plan — to join forces with the worldwide LARPer community. With ISKCON resources and the large enthusiastic LARPer community, ISKCON temples and communities could be re-energized and filled with new life; membership and participation would soar to unheard of heights.

The GBC were rightly confused, for none of them had heard of LARPing or LARPers. Goball explained to them that LARP was an acronym for Live Action Role Playing, and that there are thousands upon thousands of people around the world, and more every year, who are dedicated LARPers. The GBC and temple presidents still didn’t understand what Goball Bhuttass was talking about. So he had to explain that LARPing was a live action version of Role Playing Games like Dungeons and Dragons, or of video RPG’s like: Dragonquest, The Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, World of Warcraft, Dragon Age, and the countless other fantasy or sci-fi driven games.

Goball explained how instead of the games being just played, they were lived, acted out, with costumes and clans, guilds and weapons, lords and maidens, and everything else you find in those games. Mostly they are medieval based fantasies, largely based on the original fantasy based and wildly popular RPG, Dungeons and Dragons.

Cosplay LARPers

Batterynarayan Das, long time GBC and well known gibbering mouther, couldn’t help but speak out: “What the hell are you talking about Goball?”

Goball explained that ISKCON was in essence a LARPer community:

Just like the LARPers we dress up in costumes and give ourselves fantasy based names and fantasy based titles and positions; we speak and act towards each other as characters in a fantasy world; we form ourselves into clans and guilds ruled over by lords and wizards — who are served by warriors and serfs, maidens and queens, artisans and entertainers. We even have battles. Let’s face it, we live in a fantasy world, it’s not a medieval based fantasy with trolls and elves, it’s a Vedic fantasy world with demigods and demons, ghosts and ghouls, good and bad yogis with supernatural powers, and so on. When you join ISKCON, you don’t just join an ashram or commune or church — you enter into a worldwide LARPer community, a Vedic fantasy live action role playing game.

The difference between ourselves and the LARPer communities around the world is that they’re all part time, and with little in the way of infrastructure. If they knew that we were also LARPers, and that they could join and enter into a full-time LARPer game, where they could actually be their characters rather than just play-acting, I think they would jump at the chance. These people are not happy with their lives, they seek out like minded people to create a fantasy world so they can escape modern culture and it’s pressures. They lack what we have, a fully realized LARPer fantasy world.

Batterynarayana Das then pointed out the obvious flaw in Goball’s plan:

Goball prabhu, maybe we share similarities with LARPers, but are they going to follow the 4 regulative principles? Are they going to submit to the GBC and sign an oath to us and Prabhupada? If they don’t, we wouldn’t want to associate with them. What seems like a fantasy is your idea.

Goball Bhuttass expected that type of negativity from Batterynarayan Das, so he was ready for him. He said:

We have to do something to save ISKCON from what’s it’s becoming, otherwise in a few years for all practical purposes Lord Chaitanya’s movement will have ceased to exist outside of India. It’s only a matter of time before the ex-communist bloc countries experience what the rest of ISKCON has gone through. They were exposed to ISKCON much later then the rest of the world, so I’m sure they’ll be going through the same stages of rapid development and then gradual disinterest that the rest of ISKCON has gone through. I’ve wracked my brain for years now on the SSPT, what I’ve realized is that it isn’t a management problem which is causing such widespread disinterest. I see the problem, but I don’t think some of you will like the solution. What we demand of everyone, by that I mean 4 regulative principles and absolute submission to our leaders as fully empowered spiritual teachers and guides, is the problem. Before the Internet it would take time for people to find out they hate what we stand for, now it takes a half hour of web surfing to think we suck. Besides new people being scared off, the older ones get fed up with 4 regulative principles and being forced to accept everything we teach as gospel. We need radical change, or we will continue to slide into irrelevance.

At that, celebrity guru Shittylama Swami could take it no longer:

That was blasphemous. We don’t care what anyone else does or thinks. This is Prabhupada’s movement and we are Prabhupada’s devotees. We live to serve his ideals because we know he was sent by God from Goloka to save the world. We care about quality, not quantity. If people are unable to give up their selfish sense gratification, and if they cannot give up their ego and be submissive servants of guru, then they are not ready for Krishna consciousness. We don’t need them, BAS, enough!

Shittylama Swami got up then and strode out of the meeting, sneering at the idea that anything would change. Once outside he whistled for his servants and they got into his limo. He told his driver to take him to the airport. They then caught a first class flight to Cancún, Mexico for the opening of a new restaurant. To fulfil his duties as a servant of the servant in pushing on Prabhupada’s movement, Shittylama Swami was not going to allow change, “I’ll make sure of that,” he thought, as he laid by the beach getting a massage later the next day. “Prabhupada’s perfect plan, it’s just so perfect” he thought, as he was lulled to sleep by the warmth of the sun and the smell of the beach as the soft hand of the young masseuse gently plied his muscles.

LARP it up guys!

The following is different from the above conversation — but complimentary, or rather, contradictory. Either way, the above is comedy gold and so is the below:

Conversation with devotees — Tokyo, April 25, 1972

Prabhupāda: That means your lavatory. Therefore the demigods do not come here even to urine. (laughter) Formerly they used to come. Now they do not come because it is not fit for their urinating. Here, we are very much proud of our advancement, but the demigods do not come even to pass urine. Why they should come? Now, because another house is raised here, even a common man is not coming to urine here. A little less facility, so they are not occupying. So why the demigods will come to this nonsense place? You can understand. These apartments are lying vacant on account of a little less facility. So why the demigods? Their comforts and their standard of living is many millions times better than yours. You cannot imagine it even. The more you go to the higher planetary system, their standard of living is still higher, higher-duration of life, standard of living, beauty, other facilities. Why they are called higher planetary system? Here in this planet even you don’t get the sunshine sufficiently. The bare necessities. Now you can experience that when you go above the cloud by airplane you see there is no more cloudy. The sunshine is free. You can imagine how in the higher planetary system the sunshine is so free. And here as soon as there is little sunshine, oh, today, “Good morning.” Today is very good morning. In London, Lennon’s gardener, he was meeting, I was walking. He was Mr. Johnson or something.

Śyāmasundara: Frank.

Prabhupāda: Frank? So, “Today is really good morning.” “Yes.” Otherwise it is dark. And actually countries which have no sufficient sunshine, they are condemned. I told you frankly, your London is hell, in that television. Actually it is hell. We could understand from outside London, simply dark, moist, everything damp. The trees, they have got, what is called?

Devotee: Moss.

Prabhupāda: Moss. Yes. That moss for want of sufficient sunshine.

Devotee: People get little relief from their misery and they say, “Oh, I am happy now.”

Prabhupāda: Yes. From the miseries, Mr. John is happy by becoming naked and having fireplace. He is bringing the wood personally, putting there. And Yoko is very happy. Japanese wife. She was talking philosophy with me.

Śyāmasundara: Now he has made one song, “I don’t believe in Hare Kṛṣṇa.”

Prabhupāda: Who?

Śyāmasundara: John.

Sudāmā: “He is me.”

Prabhupāda: That’s all right. So our Hare Kṛṣṇa will be advertised. (laughter) People will be inquisitive, “What is this Hare Kṛṣṇa?” at least. One who does not know. That is good.

Śyāmasundara: Because nobody believes in John Lennon anymore either.

Prabhupāda: How long it will go bluffing?

Śyāmasundara: He is losing his…

Prabhupāda: Popularity.

Śyāmasundara: His popularity. People are becoming disappointed because formerly he was very brilliant songwriter, but now it’s become very degraded.

Pradyumna: He formerly was married before, and he had family I think. But then he divorced to marry…

Prabhupāda: Not divorce. The contract is her former husband should live also. She has got double husband. He is living there along with him. I know that.

Śyāmasundara: Cox.

Prabhupāda: Cox. He is living there.

Devotee: Simply insanity. Insanity.

Prabhupāda: Insanity. Yes. He is the manager. What manager? He has got motorcycle and goes round. He must be given some post. And he has also married another? That…

Śyāmasundara: Dan? I don’t think he is legally married.

Prabhupāda: Friend. She has got, he has got a child?

Śyāmasundara: One or two small children.

Prabhupāda: So he has to maintain all of them. On this contract that Yoko is there.

Śyāmasundara: Yes. Dan was her old friend. Dan was her friend. That’s why he became manager.

Prabhupāda: So all this business on the basis of sex. That’s all. Yan maithunādi-gṛhamedhi-sukhaṁ hi tuccham SB 7.9.45 . For very insignificant happiness they are encumbered in so many ways. Yan maithunādi-gṛhamedhi-sukhaṁ hi tucchaṁ kaṇḍūyanena karayor iva duḥkha-duḥkham.

Śyāmasundara: And every time she tried to have a child, because they lead such a decadent life, she has miscarriage every time.

Prabhupāda: That means she has got syphilitic poison. Girls who cannot bear child means there is syphilitic poison. Either the man has got syphilitic poison or the woman has got syphilitic poison. And for these men, syphilis is not very uncommon.

Sudāmā: In this country, it is now also very, like epidemic.

Prabhupāda: Syphilis. All over Europe. When Dr. Ghosh, who is my friend, he came to see me in Allahabad? One doctor? So he is friend. He told me that when he was student, Colonel (indistinct), one big professor, medicine, he was lecturing. He was Englishman. He said that “In our country, seventy to eighty percent of the student community, they are suffering from syphilitic attack.” So in our country, in India, if one is attacked with syphilis, then he is taken as very abominable. His character is not good, it is understood. So he said, “Horrible,” Dr. Ghosh, because he was Indian student. So Colonel (indistinct) replied, “Why you are saying horrible? In your country ninety percent people are attacked malaria. So there, syphilis. So as a medical practitioner why you take this disease as bad or that disease as good? Your business is to see that there should be no disease. Don’t consider in that way, that ‘This disease is good, this disease is bad.’ ” That’s nice explanation. But fifty years ago or hundred years ago syphilitic poison was very much prevalent. Still it is in Europe and America. And now it is spreading all over. And in Āyur Veda it is said, phiraṅga, phiraṅga. Phiraṅgī. The Europeans are described in Vedic literatures as phiraṅgī, their name is phiraṅgī. So this syphilitic disease is mentioned in the Āyur Veda, the disease brought by the phiraṅgīs. And the doctor says that originally it was spread through dog. The unmarried girls, they keep dog for sex. You do not know? He knows. You will find very beautiful girl is keeping very big dog. They are trained to have sex life. And that is cause of syphilis. The dog is full of syphilitic germs. It is called phiraṅga in the Āyur Veda. And one who has got syphilitic germs, his life is doomed. Unless it is properly treated and cured, so many disease will follow. So many. This craziness is also due to syphilitic poison, parents.

Sudāmā: There is a case of a very famous gangster, Al Capone, and others. They died in the prison house of syphilis of the mind, brain.

Prabhupāda: Just see.

Sudāmā: They went crazy.

Prabhupāda: So how much by nature the sex life is condemned in so many ways. Therefore we say “No illicit sex.” It will save you from so many encumbrances. Sex life is not denied, but this unrestricted sex life is very very abominable in human society. But they are encouraging unrestricted sex life. They are distributing tablets, encouraging others to have sex life. Never mind. Unmarried girls they are keeping dogs. One lady in America, she told me that the dogs are kept for this purpose. When I was going to walk in that park in Brooklyn, the young girls are bringing dogs, big, big dogs. You were not at that time with me?

Śyāmasundara: Yes. I don’t remember.

Prabhupāda: Bhavānanda. Bhavānanda was taking me to that big park.

Śyāmasundara: Yes. I went. Prospect. Was it called Prospect?

Prabhupāda: Gambling, kṣatriyas, they can gamble. They must have the sporting spirit. Otherwise when they are defeated they will succumb to death. The kṣatriya king, “Oh, he is a criminal”? Just like Parīkṣit Mahārāja. Such a Vaiṣṇava king. As soon as he saw somebody is trying to kill a cow, immediately took his sword: “What nonsense you are doing? Immediately I shall kill you.” A kṣatriya must be spirited. Immediately cut off. Even in England, that was the practice. They used to practice dummy men cut head. The king must be like there.

Sudāmā: Here also. Here also there was a class of men called samurai, and they carried long sword and short sword. And they had certain rules for fighting. They would never fight a man unless he was equally matched. And if he lost, then he must take… If I lose the battle then I must take the short sword and kill myself for shame, for dishonor.

Prabhupāda: Not only that, when Kṛṣṇa was fighting with Rukmiṇī’s brother, he lost his chariot. So, and Rukmiṇī took the sword. So Kṛṣṇa also throw His bow and arrows. He also took the sword. Not that “I shall possess better weapons to kill you.” No. Equal. Equal terms. “If you have no sword, I will give you a sword.” Yes. “Take this sword. I take another.” That is kṣatriya spirit. Sporting. So for kṣatriya, this animal killing, this, which is abominable, but they require.

Devotee: Intoxication too?

Prabhupāda: Intoxication also. Just like Balarāma, He was drinking madhu (mead). Yes. You have not seen it? He was also enjoying in the company of women. Because He is kṣatriya. The kṣatriyas are allowed polygamy, drinking, intoxication, because they are king. They must have facility. At the same time they are ruling over the country. They take consulting great sages, saintly persons. And if he is not in order, these saintly persons would dethrone him. Pṛthu Mahārāja’s father was killed, Veṇa. He was not according to the system. He was killed.

Pradyumna: I don’t understand how sometimes we…, how the intoxication of some type of wine would go along with the ruling of a country.

Prabhupāda: Well, for rulers is a pleasure. They must have some pleasure. Just like ordinary men, they drink with woman, dancing, it is a recreation. So this is material recreation, to be little intoxicated and several nice young girls around. That gives him some encouragement. You see? They have to take so much risk, so much responsibility. For recreation they require it. They should be given little facility.

Devotee: Can they still make spiritual advancement?

Prabhupāda: Well, spiritual advancement is going on. They are taking advice from great saintly persons, they are observing, they are performing big sacrifices, spending money, treasury. That is their spiritual advancement. You are satisfying Kṛṣṇa in spite of… All these devatās, the demigods, they also enjoy. In higher planetary system, like Indra, he is prostitute hunter number one, Indra. (laughter) But he is a great devotee at the same time.

The strong man’s strength should be applied to protect the weak, not for personal aggression. Similarly, sex life, according to religious principles (dharma), should be for the propagation of children, not otherwise. The responsibility of parents is then to make their offspring Kṛṣṇa conscious.

Prabhupada: Yes. Actually this is the fact. But they are fools. They still like to lick up new vagina. Exactly dogs. We are restricting that “Give up this business, licking of vagina,” and they are seeking up to the point of death another vagina, another vagina, another… Which is better? The video I made above has to do with the two links below. They go to the official ISKCON news site’s coverage of a recent appearance of ISKCON guru and official pundit Drutakarma Das (a.k.a. alternative science spokesman Michael Cremo), on a popular American TV network, The History Channel. It’s so refreshing to see the official ISKCON news organ proudly present one of their own participating in a “scientific” documentary series based upon the search for proof of extraterrestrial (alien) visitations and settlements in ancient times.

I especially enjoyed the basic idea behind their visit to Dwaraka, and their ideas about Krishna. It seems that Drutakarma and his friends in the pseudo-history industry are passionately into promoting the idea that the ancient Vedic devas, or gods, were actually alien visitors. The descriptions of mystical events or mystical weapons, aren’t metaphors or literary embellishments (alankara), according to Drutakarma and friends they are misunderstood revelations of ancient alien technology — like lasers or rockets or aircraft or spaceships or whatever. The history revealed in ancient scripture, it turns out (according to them guys), are actually hidden clues revealing our alien overlords past interaction with our ancient ancestors — with the aliens starring in the role as the devas (good demi-gods), and I assume the asuras (bad demi-gods) as well. Wars between devas and asuras — were actually between battling aliens?

Their basic premise goes something like this: Imagine if our modern military encountered European knights from the middle ages. How would they perceive us? Our technology would look magical or from a higher realm to them. Their expected reaction is considered to be almost axiomatic ever since Arthur C. Clarke made his 3 laws of predictions — the 3rd and most famous being:

Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

That is the basic premise of the documentary and researchers Drutakarma is working with and supporting, which in turn is also being supported by ISKCON’s official news outlet. They teach that God, or the Gods that were written about in ancient cultures, were really aliens with advanced technology, e.g. spaceships, aircraft, advanced weaponry, etc. According to them, Krishna was an alien with very advanced technology, as were the other Gods. They were so advanced that the common people couldn’t tell that their power came from technology, so they ended up worshiping them as Gods. That eventually led to the creation of today’s religions, with roots deep in our long ago past association with aliens.

It’s not a new type of theory. Zecharia Sitchin, Immanuel Velikovsky and Erich von Däniken (very popular in the late 1960s-70s) all tread the same ground in the past. Chariots of the Gods? by Erich von Däniken was a hugely popular book and movie, it spawned a mini-industry around it much like Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code has done recently. Even Steven Spielberg’s reboot of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull a couple years ago, was based on the same played out aliens-are-our-gods plot. More recently Laurence Gardner wrote a series of popular books connecting aliens with Adam and Eve; the Egyptian pyramids; Jesus and the Holy Grail; and European aristocracy.

So it’s nice to see the lack of shame or embarrassment from ISKCON leaders. Hey, it gets their faces on TV; it gets their books in stores; and it puts money in their bank accounts. If the suckers want nonsense, why not give them what they want while making some bank in the process? So what if they have to support the idea that God and all religions are bogus; that they’re actually all based upon a misunderstanding of visits by technologically super advanced alien civilizations to the primitive Earth society thousands of years ago? Now we call them God because back then we worshiped their technology as mystic potency. But not for much longer — our intrepid alternative historians are out to set us all free! Oh Joy!
